Doctoral & Early Career Research Network

The DECR is a volunteer Project Board and a network that drives the Association for Art History’s doctoral and early career research events and initiatives. Through the DECR we are able to provide a support system and platform for current PhD students and Early Career Researchers who are within 5 years of receiving their PhD. We also provide platforms for undergraduate and master’s students looking to present research or find out more about careers.

The DECR works with the Association to deliver the Professional Development Day (For PhD and ECRs), the annual two-day Summer Symposium (for late stage PhD students and ECRs), the one-day New Voices conference (for MA and new PhD students) and the Art History Careers Day (for undergraduate and masters students). The DECR is also responsible for shortlisting the annual undergraduate and postgraduate Dissertation Prizes.

The DECR Project Board is made of 12-15 people, from across the UK, who are at different stages in their research career. The DECR board meets 4 times a year.
