ARTiculation

ARTiculation is The Roche Court Educational Trust’s national arts public speaking initiative for young people. ARTiculation encourages young people to communicate confidently and to express their ideas and opinions on art. ARTiculation works with over 50 museums, galleries and universities across the UK and over 5,000 young people engage annually in the initiative. The ARTiculation Outreach programme, which includes Discovery Days and Support Sessions, takes places across the country. The programme develops students’ ability to look, think and speak about art through research and questioning and introduces young people to their local museums and galleries.

The annual ARTiculation Prize is the public speaking competition on the arts for students aged 16-19. Students deliver ten-minute presentations on a work of art, architecture or an artefact of their choice in front of an audience and an adjudicator at museums and galleries. The annual Discover ARTiculation Challenge is for GCSE students and is overseen by the University of Leeds.

All students who take part in ARTiculation are invited to join the Alumni Network. Alumni are given opportunities to gain work experience, to speak in public, to write for publications and to join training and mentoring schemes, including the Ambassador Programme which gives young people aged 18-25 the skills to deliver ARTiculation events, providing both training and work experience.
