2020 Annual Conference

1 - 3 April 2020

The Association for Art History’s 46th Annual Conference will take place in Newcastle, in partnership with the University of Northumbria and University of Newcastle. This popular three-day event brings together current research and critical debate about art, art history and visual cultures. This key annual event is an opportunity to keep up to date with new research, hear leading keynotes, broaden networks and exchange ideas.

The 2020 Annual Conference for art history will host 3 keynote lectures, 35 sessions, and over 200 research papers that cover art history from the classical to the contemporary. A fringe programme of visits and tours, networking opportunities and professional practice workshops on funding and image copyright will also take place.

The 2020 Annual Conference is open to all. Each year we welcome around 500 attendees, most of whom are academics, curators, practitioners, phd students, early career researchers, non-art historians engaged with art history, publishers, writers and anyone else interested in art history research.
