Art History Festival | The British Museum as a Resource for Art History

Study of a seated nude man for the ‘Battle of Cascina’, 1504-5, drawing, British Museum

Sarah Saunders introduces approaches to using the British Museum as a resource for art history, through exhibitions, a learning programme, and access to the collections.

Hilary Williams discusses a series of case studies which show art-historical influences across the collections:- from Hellenism to Gandhara; Michelangelo’s drawings into ceramics; and Greek vases, via Sir William Hamilton to Wedgwood’s Pegasus Vase. How do these examples show art-historical narratives?

This event is delivered by the British Museum.
