Call for Papers | Whistler, Nature and Industry| The Hunterian, University Of Glasgow, Glasgow, G128QQ
30th September -1st October 2020 (five formal academic sessions spread over a day and a half).
Explores the relationship between nature and industry in the art of James McNeill Whistler, including possible linkages with wider scientific debates of the period 1850-1914
- Papers should be 20 minutes in length. Posters welcome for informal presentation during a planned session on current/future research. Please email proposals to the symposium convenors by 17th April 2020 (300 words max), indicating clearly whether a paper or poster is being offered. Speakers and poster contributions will be confirmed by 8th May. Bursaries are offered to cover the expenses of up to two UK-based postgraduate speakers/poster contributors.
