How to Write About Art

How do you write about art? Join us on Wednesday 15 July, 6 – 6.30pm for our second online talk in our new series on writing about art. For this event we welcome Jeremy Akerman and Eileen Daly, who set up and run Akerman Daly: Art and Writing. Since 2004 they have commissioned, edited and published artists’ writing in print, online and through live events. Jeremy and Eileen teach writing and editing courses, and offer bespoke writing mentoring.

What are your main challenges when writing about art? This is a question that will be asked, and explored during this 30-minute talk with Jeremy and Eileen. They will look at the nitty gritty of ‘How to Write About Art’, from getting started, to finding your style and voice, establishing context, and not forgetting the all-important part of editing. They will also respond to selected questions that people may have around specific challenges around writing about art.

This FREE online event is open to all. It will be useful for anyone interested in doing more writing about art, and those looking to make art accessible through writing. It may be of particular interest to students and professionals engaged in writing about art, art history or visual culture who want to get an insider perspective and some top tips. E-tickets are available via Eventbrite. The talk will last approx 30 mins. It will take place live, but will be recorded and made available afterwards.
