Art UK seeks a group leader for Art Detective

Art UK is looking for a group leader to manage discussions around pre-1800 European paintings on the innovative and award-winning online forum Art Detective. Can you help?

Art UK is a charity working to transform access to the nation’s art collections. Our website is the showcase for over 220,000 works of art in over 3,250 public collections and institutions across the UK.

Art Detective is an innovative and award-winning online discussion forum created by Art UK to engage academics, experts and anyone with specialist knowledge in improving the catalogue records of works of art in UK public collections. In its four-year history it has helped museums identify artists and subjects of dozens of paintings. Please take a look.

We are now looking for a volunteer to lead the group devoted to ‘Continental European paintings before 1800’. Group Leaders on Art Detective monitor discussions in their group, intervene when they wish, and draw discussions to a conclusion at the appropriate time.  It need not take more than a few hours a week.

If you have a broad knowledge of the subject, an interest in helping regional museums and in public engagement, please contact Marion Richards, Art Detective Officer at Art UK , or Andrew Greg at the University of Glasgow for more information.
