Join our DECR COMMITTEE

Help shape the future for art history, and grow skills and networks – join our brilliant Doctoral and Early Career Research (DECR) Committee.

We are currently looking for new members to join this voluntary board and get involved in our doctoral and early career research projects, which range from organising one day conferences such as New Voices or Professional Development Days, to shortlisting for the Dissertation Prizes and running networking events for doctoral and early career researchers. The Doctoral and Early Career Research (DECR) Committee is a volunteer board that drives the Association for Art History’s doctoral and early career research events and initiatives. Through the DECR network we are able to provide a support system and platforms for current PhD students and Early Career Researchers. The committee is made up of 12 people from around the UK who are at different stages of their doctoral or early career who meet up (in person or digitally) 4 times a year.

Being a member of the DECR committee is a fantastic opportunity to connect with colleagues, share interests and ideas, offer support and insight to others, and gain hands-on experience with things like project management and event organisation, which are useful for cpd and building networks.

The DECR community has a longstanding importance within the Association for Art History, and the DECR Committee has been an active presence within the Association for over 30 years.

We are interested in hearing from PhD students, practice-led PhD students and ECRs. If you are interested in joining the DECR committee and gaining skills, experiences, and contacts along the way, then please do register an expression of interest by completing the DECR committee application form and DECR monitoring form by 12 January 2024.

We particularly welcome applicants with a research specialism in decolonisation as this is a focal point for DECR initiatives and programmes throughout 2024 and aligns with ongoing Association commitments.
