Laurenz Professorship for Contemporary Art (Assistant Professorship without Tenure Track), University of Basel
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Basel invites applications for the Laurenz Professorship of Contemporaray Art (without Tenure Track), starting August 1, 2024.
This Assistant Professorship, funded by the Laurenz Foundation, is limited to a five-year-term.
Your position
We seek an individual with deep knowledge of the entire field of contemporary art, demonstrated in methodologically and theoretically sound research and teaching, who also develops their art historical scholarship in collaboration with artists, curators, and art institutions. From the professorship, which is part of the Department of Art History, we expect independent research, close collaboration with the Schaulager and other art institutions, as well as active participation in the eikones Center and engaging teaching in the BA and MA subject “Art History” and in the MA program “Art History and Image Theory”.
Your profile
Applicants should have completed a distinguished doctoral degree, and should have a strong record of international publications and of teaching in the area of contemporary art.
Excellent proficiency in English is required; excellent proficiency in German is expected.
