The Oriental Ceramic Society Study Exchange Programme

The Oriental Ceramic Society (OCS) in London and the Society of International Ceramic Studies (SICS) in Jingdezhen announce the launch of their inaugural study exchange programme in Jingdezhen, China, in 2025. Applications are now being accepted.

Established in 1921, the OCS has fostered and promoted knowledge in ceramic studies for over a century. The newly established SICS shares an interest in ceramic studies. Together the organisations have joined forces to support an international exchange of scholarship in Chinese art, particularly ceramics. The aim is to encourage young professionals and scholars to expand our knowledge of this field. The applications will be assessed by an expert OCS panel and one candidate will be chosen in early May 2025.

The successful candidate will be eligible for a stipend of up to a maximum of £3000 to travel to Jingdezhen in June, July or August of 2025 to expand their research. SICS will provide accommodation and a workstation in Jingdezhen as well as access to local kiln sites. (In 2026 an application process will be opened by SICS for an exchange candidate to travel to London).
