Visiting Lecturer (hourly paid) in Critical and Cultural Studies for the BA (Hons) Fine Art Programme, University of Hertfordshire, School of Creative Arts, 2021-2022 (A).


This post requires a VL to teach art history and critical theory to Level 4 Fine Art students in Semester B, January-May 2022.


Preferably you should have some experience of teaching art practitioners or be one yourself.  You should possess/or be studying for a PhD in Fine Art/Art History.  We require knowledge of the recent histories and theories associated with contemporary Fine Art practice and how art works have been curated/displayed and critically evaluated.  Experience with the “Canvas” Virtual Learning Environment system would be an advantage. The teaching will be on Mondays 10.00-12.00– with small group tutorials 1.00-2.00) in Semester B (January – May 2022). Please note that, hopefully, there will be opportunities to meet with students and the Fine Art team on campus, but most of the teaching will be via Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

You would be offered c.45 contract hours (c.90 actual hours) – dependant on the number of students enrolled – to cover preparation, delivery and assessment for the module 4CTA1289 Fine Art: Visions, Contexts, Languages.  lf you are interested in this position, please contact us and we will provide more detailed information about the module content and structure.
