Visiting Lecturer (hourly paid) in Critical and Cultural Studies for the BA (Hons) Fine Art Programme University of Hertfordshire, School of Creative Arts, 2021-2022 (B).

This post requires a VL to teach art history and critical theory to Level 5 Fine Art students in Semesters A/B, October 2021-May 2022.

Preferably you should have some experience of teaching art practitioners or be one yourself.  You should possess/or be studying for a PhD in Fine Art/Art History.  We require knowledge of the recent histories and practices of performance art, video art and installation art, as well as engagement with issues of race, gender and environment, and how these are addressed in contemporary art practice.  Experience with the “Canvas” Virtual Learning Environment system would be an advantage. The teaching will be on Mondays 2.00-4.00– with small group tutorials 4.00-5.00 in both Semester A (October -January) and Semester B (January – April 2022). Please note that, hopefully, there will be opportunities to meet with students and the Fine Art team on campus, but most of the teaching will be by Microsoft Teams or Zoom.

You would be offered c.85 contract hours per Semester (c.170 actual hours) to cover preparation, delivery and assessment for the module 5CTA1116 Fine Art Debates and Values. If you are interested, please contact us and we will provide more detailed information. about the module content and structure. The deadline for applications is September 15. You may apply for one, or both, of the VL posts advertised here.  NB. The short-notice vacancies have arisen due to the previous tutor being awarded a well-deserved research fellowship.
