Artist and Curator Bursaries

Artist and curator bursaries to attend the Association for Art History’s 2020 Annual Conference.

We are delighted to be able to offer 10 Annual Conference bursaries to artists and independent curators based in or around Newcastle and Gateshead. The bursaries will give free attendance to our 2020 Annual Conference, which is taking place in partnership with Newcastle University and Northumbria University from 1- 3 April 2020.

The bursaries are generously supported by Newcastle University Institute for Creative Arts Practice and form part of our ongoing efforts to encourage more artists and curators to participate in the Annual Conference. Bursaries are available to artists and independent curators (who do not have access to institutional conference funding) who would benefit from attending this international research conference focused on art, art history and visual culture.

Who can apply
The bursaries are open to practising artists and independent curators based in or around Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, and Middlesbrough. The bursaries will give free entrance to the Annual Conference, but they will not cover travel or accommodation.

How to apply
Please send an email telling us a little about yourself, your work and why attending the Annual Conference would be beneficial to you (200 – 250 words). Please email your application to bursary2020@forarthistory.org.uk with the title Artist and Curator Bursary. Successful candidates will be notified before the 27 March 2020. If you have any other queries or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Application deadline: 16 March 2020
