CFP: Nineteenth Century Studies Journal (2027)

Dear colleagues,

Are you planning your summer writing projects—or revising an article and considering where to submit it? The editors of Nineteenth Century Studies are now accepting submissions for the 2027 volume. The deadline for consideration is October 1, 2026; submissions received after this date may be considered for the 2028 volume.

Nineteenth Century Studies is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to the long nineteenth century, publishing research across the humanities. We welcome submissions that cross disciplinary and national boundaries and/or range across the century. Successful essays combine deep specialist research with a breadth of perspective that speaks to readers beyond a single field. Feature articles typically range from 6,000 to 10,000 words. We also welcome review essays, typically organized around a central theme and proposed either by the author or in consultation with the editors. These essays (3,000–6,000 words) may engage with books, exhibitions, digital resources, or a combination thereof.
