Impressionist Futures will launch its 2026-2027 programming with the online event ‘Writing A Historical Dictionary of Impressionism’. This conversation will feature Professor Frances Fowle and Dr. Hannah Halliwell discussing their new book, The Historical Dictionary of Impressionism.
The Historical Dictionary of Impressionism comprises cross-referenced entries on the French Impressionists, the locations they worked in (both in France and further afield), their predecessors and followers, and their models, critics and dealers. It also has useful entries on key political events and figures, as well as the places of entertainment that sprang up all over Paris in the ‘belle époque’. The book additionally contains a chronology, an introduction, and an extensive bibliography, as well as practical information on the eight Impressionist exhibitions. It is designed to appeal to students, researchers and the general reader.
Registration for this online event is free. All are welcome to attend. To register, please visit
