African Art Now

Join African Art Now this November — an online ten-week course at Imperial College London that explores the dynamic world of modern and contemporary African art, from iconic paintings to ground-breaking photography and sculpture.

Throughout the sessions, we’ll look at themes such as Négritude, modernism in West Africa, photography in Mali, and artistic responses to Apartheid in South Africa. We’ll also highlight influential artists including Ibrahim El-Salahi, Malangatana, etc.

The course is taught in an open and inclusive way — participants’ thoughts, experiences, and perspectives are at the heart of the discussion.

No prior knowledge or qualifications are required — it’s designed for complete beginners with an interest in art, history, and culture.
