The amount of rock stars who kicked their heels at art college could easily fill…an art college. It’s not confined to 60s luminaries like The Beatles and Pink Floyd either – the latest in the Art Decades series identifies the primary influences on Cocker, Byrne, Albarn etc, what they actually got up to at art college, and how it influenced their music. This Art Decades talk is also a celebration of a halcyon era, where the music business was far less corporate and musicians had the freedom to forge their own identity and channel influences that ranged from low art to Fine Art and anywhere in between. Every Art Decades evening includes slides, film footage and a curated soundtrack building a 3D picture of moments where music intersects with art, in all its forms.
