Creating a Primary School Art History Resource
Open Invitation to Primary School Teachers
We’d be delighted if you would join us for a special in-person roundtable event exploring the potential for a scalable digital resource to introduce art history into primary schools.
This is a chance for primary school teachers and those invested in primary education to help shape a resource that could bring art history to life for children across the country.
You are welcome to attend either of the following sessions
London: 15 October, 17.00-19.00
Courtauld Institute of Art, London
Leon Kossoff Learning Centre, The Courtauld Institute of Art, Somerset House, Strand, London, WC2R ORN. Entrance directly opposite the Courtauld Gallery.
Liverpool: 8 October, 15.00-17.00
Liverpool John Moores University
Room 5.23, Redmonds Building, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool, L3 5UG
This informal but focused session will bring together primary school teachers and others invested in primary education to share insights, experiences, and ideas. With our expert facilitator, Anne Millman, we’ll be discussing questions such as:
- Is there scope for a new primary school art history resource?
- Should such a resource be designed for classroom teaching or extracurricular use?
- How might it best connect with existing subjects and curriculum priorities?
- What format would be most useful and engaging for teachers and pupils?
Refreshments will be provided.
Travel expenses can be paid up to £150. Please book transport well in advance and email us to confirm if you are taking up this offer. info@forarthistory.org.uk
If you are keen to attend but your expenses would be higher, please do contact us to discuss. We will be keen to accommodate you if we can!
Please RSVP to the Association for Art History as soon as possible and by Monday 29 September to info@forarthistory.org.uk, indicating which session you’d like to attend.
Your insights would be invaluable in helping us shape something meaningful and practical for schools. We hope you can join us!
