Saturday 9 May 2026 12.00 at the Imperial Rooms, Matlock, followed by the unveiling of the plaque in situ at 14.30.
For about ten months in 1857-8, Pre-Raphaelite artists and poets Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Elizabeth Siddal stayed at Lime Tree Guest House in Matlock. Why did they come to Derbyshire? What did they do while they were here? The original guest house has been converted into private dwellings. The owners have come together to arrange for a blue plaque to be installed to commemorate the house’s noteworthy history.
To celebrate the official unveiling of the blue plaque, Dr Glenda Youde will present an illustrated talk on their stay in Matlock.
