The third annual conference of the PGECR Country House Group will be held in partnership with The National Gallery, and will take place there in London on Friday 6th March 2026. The call for papers is open to both group members and those not currently in the PGECR Country House Group, but is limited to postgraduate students and early career researchers.

The PGECR Country House Group is for any MA or PhD student, and ECRs, researching any aspect of the British country house in any era. We welcome proposals for 15-minute papers from any discipline, including (but not limited to) art history, the history of collecting, film & television studies, costume history, social history, architecture history, heritage and museum studies, conservation, garden & landscape studies, literature, and the future of country house studies. We welcome any explorations of the British country house in any historical period, as well as contemporary examinations of the country house.

Submissions for proposals are now open, the deadline is Monday 20th October 2025. Please email Sarah Moody (0405529@students.uca.ac.uk) your name, university or workplace, your course or job title, the title of your proposed paper, and an abstract no longer than 250 words.

You can also reserve a free space to attend without presenting, and we welcome senior academics and heritage professionals.
