The Vimar Curatorial Fellow (Paintings 1600 – 1800)

The National Gallery invites applications for the Vivmar Curatorial Fellowship, a 22-month paid position starting in October 2025. This role offers early-career art historians the chance to gain in-depth, practical experience in curatorial work within a major national collection.

Focusing on European paintings from 1600 to 1800, the fellow will support a wide range of activities including collection research, the development of displays, interpretation, and contributions to public programmes. The role offers valuable insight into how the Gallery care for and present historic collections, while also encouraging engagement with new audiences.

Applicants should have a strong academic background in European painting, excellent research and communication skills, and an enthusiasm for making the collection relevant and accessible to today’s audiences.
