Art History Residency

The Association is happy to announce that we have added a second art history residency, to take place next academic year.

In partnership with the Ampersand Foundation, we are offering one residency from 1 October to 31 December, 2027 and a second one directly following for the month of January 2028.

The residencies are intended to give early- to mid-career researchers the opportunity to spend focused time on their research/writing in a house in the Derbyshire countryside.

The residencies are available to Association for Art History members who have a right to work in the UK and will be awarded on the basis of a competitive application process. Each recipient will be expected to give a public talk on their work during the Art History Festival in Autumn 2028.

The residencies will enable the recipients to further their work in a quiet setting in a well-appointed, two-bedroom house with all household costs covered, maintenance and cleaning provided, and with a £1,000 per month stipend.

Contact: please send enquiries and applications with ‘Association for Art History Residency’ in the subject line to: info@forarthistory.org.uk. The application form is here.
