Announcing New Board Members for the Association for Art History
The Association for Art History is pleased to welcome four new members to its Board of Trustees, following their appointments at the June 2025 AGM. Together, they bring a rich breadth of experience from across academia and the creative sector, strengthening our ability to support the field of art history in all its forms.
Belinda Bowring joins the Board with a focus on communications and marketing. She is Vice President of Communications, Arts at Endeavor, where she leads global strategy for Frieze, The Armory Show and EXPO CHICAGO. Belinda has a strong track record in cultural communications, having held senior roles at Frieze, Christie’s, and with Damien Hirst. She holds both BA and MA degrees in art history from the Courtauld Institute of Art.
Dionne Griffith joins in a strategic and relationship-building role. She is Director of Marketing and Partnerships at Egis, a global network of architecture practices, and has previously held senior posts with David Chipperfield Architects, David Adjaye, and United Visual Artists. Dionne studied art history and English at the University of Leeds and received her MA in Paris Studies, History and Culture from the University of London Institute of Paris. She brings a distinctive combination of cultural insight and global strategic experience to the Board.
Halle O’Neal is Reader in Japanese Art at the University of Edinburgh, Co-Director of the Edinburgh Centre for Buddhist Studies and, until June of 2025 served as chair of The Art Bulletin. A leading scholar in her field, Halle’s work explores the intersections of text, image, and material culture in Japanese Buddhist art. Her forthcoming monograph, Dead Letters: Reuse, Recycling, and Mourning in Japanese Buddhist Manuscripts, will be published by Harvard Asia Center Press in 2026. Halle is committed to pre-university education, offering sessions for primary and secondary pupils and CPD training days for Scottish high school teachers on Buddhism and Buddhist art.
Annabelle Scholar is a Senior Client Advisor and Director in the UK Chairman’s Office at Christie’s where she advises international private collectors and develops strategic partnerships. As part of her outreach work, Annabelle helped to create the Christie’s Lates’ platform which attracted over 1,000 visitors each month. As well as advising clients, Annabelle has organised a number of events raising funds for charities in children’s health care and in the visual arts. She studied visual cultures at the American University of Paris and has served on the Serpentine Future Contemporaries committee since 2021.
“We’re delighted to welcome, Belinda, Dionne, Halle and Annabelle to the Board. I am confident that their collective experience, from academic research and public engagement to communications, strategy, and fundraising, will prove invaluable to strengthening the AAH’s ability to serve the field and our communities. I look forward to working with them all.”“
