global NEW VOICES

Global New Voices is the Association for Art History’s annual one-day conference for new postgraduate research about art, art history and visual culture. New Voices is usually held in partnership with a university or cultural organisation outside of London, and has a different theme each year. Since the pandemic there has also been a focus on hosting online. This longstanding, and well respected one-day conference hosts up to 12 papers, a keynote, exclusive tours of university collections, and networking opportunities.

Our upcoming 2025 Global New Voices will explore Visual Culture, Identity and the Construction of Space, and will take place online on 13 November 2025.

Our 2024 Global New Voices conference with the theme Contested/ing (Art) Histories: Memory Through Visual and Material Culture took place in November 2024 online.

Our 2023 Global New Voices conference focused on Resistance, Art and Visual Thinking. It took place online in November 2023.

Our 2022 Global New Voices conference highlighted Art, Identity and the Body, taking place online in November 2022.

Our 2021 New Voices conference took take place online in partnership with the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds in October 2021. The theme was ‘Sculpture + Literature’ and forms part of the larger festival of Sculpture and Poetry in Leeds.

Our 2020 Global New Voices focused on Art, Craft & Industry. It took place online in November 2020.

New Voices and Global New Voices is organised and programmed by our DECR Committee.
